LOS ANGELES WORKSHOP: Crotch-to-Air Chair Tricks (Intermediate)

In “Crotch-to-Air Chair Tricks,” you’ll fall head-over-heels in love with chair tricks — literally. From backwards shoulder rolls to gravity-defying inversions, DeeDee Queen will introduce you to chair acrobatics that will leave your audiences begging for more. Come prepared to move: we’ll start with an energizing warmup and then dive headfirst into safe ways to enter, hold, and exit inversions. This is a true intermediate class: Students should be able to safely lift themselves into a headstand against a wall, but are not required to have mastery of hand or arm balances.

About DeeDee Queen
DeeDee Queen is a performing woman who is performing “woman.” She is the Headmistress of the Silicon Valley Burlesque Academy. DeeDee has been upside-down on a chair from Anchorage to Amsterdam, and she uses chair dance and burlesque fitness to help her students build confidence in and connection with their bodies. DeeDee also performs as her drag king alter ego Will X. Uly.

Students are encouraged to bring their own folding chair.

Limited space - only 15 spots available

Early bird pricing until May 31st - $25
Regular price $35

Guys and Dolls

This spring, don’t miss what many consider to be “the perfect musical comedy:” CMT Marquee Productions presents the Tony Award-winning classic, Guys and Dolls!

Nathan Detroit needs some serious dough to keep his “floating crap game” afloat. And when he makes a bet with high-roller Sky Masterson, his problems seem to be solved. But now these gentlemen have to decide if they’re ready to gamble on love! From the bustle of Times Square, to the dance clubs of Havana, to the sewers of New York City, Nathan and Sky show us the great lengths to which a guy will go for his doll.

Based on Damon Runyon’s short stories written in the 1920s and 1930s, the timeless humor of Guys and Dolls is as relatable today as it was then.  The flawed characters of Runyon’s beloved Broadway will remind you how much fun it is to see a top-notch revival of a consummate American musical!

Featuring some of Frank Loesser’s most seminal work, including the hilarious “Adelaide’s Lament,” the smooth “Luck Be a Lady” and the irrepressible “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat”
